The staff of Alaska Bear Guards are the finest people I have ever worked with. These people have been carefully handpicked for their occupation as Alaska Bear Guards. Our staff are warm and friendly and do their jobs to the best of their ability. Our people know the weather conditions and climate of a harsh Alaska wilderness that Alaska can dish out.
Our founder, Rob Wright, was born in Fairbanks and raised in Talkeetna and the Alaska Range, lived and worked in the Alaska Bush. He’s been as far north as Prudhoe Bay, hiked and guided as far south as Kodiak Island, the Aleution chain, and the Interior of Alaska. He graduated at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks as a bear biologist, so as of this point spent a lot of time in the real Alaska bush around bears. He started being a bear guard in the 90’s. In 2008 he formed a regular business in this region because of all the conflicts between workers in the Alaskan bush and bears.
As the current owner, I have been around bears for a long time. I am an avid hunter, fisherman, outdoors man, firearms instructor and volunteer at the state fish and game office here as a volunteer instructor for rifle and archery. I have been doing this for over 15 years. In all the years our business has been around we have never had to shoot a bear.
Thank you,
Saleem (Sam) El-Arami, Owner
